Today I finished my latest painting. By 'finish' I mean that I finished painting, photographing, pricing and archiving it. The painting was done a month or so ago, but it takes me time to do all the other stuff while still researching software that suits me best and learning how to do what I need to do. It takes a lot of focus off of the actual creation of painting but it is necessary and I enjoy that part of art as well. Interestingly enough, focus is the right word because the name of this painting is 'Foci'. I painted it with the object of using more than just splashes or streaks of paint. Some of the dripping is akin to scribbling, others have straighter movement. And, of course, there is as always drops of paint throughout. Within the whole work, there are multiple focal points that draw the eye including the use of different sheens, All in all, I think I enjoyed doing this painting and the use of different drip styles. What was interesting and more surprising (though it shouldn't have been) was that there were quite varied, disparate takes on the piece by viewers. Each saw something which surprised me. Being more focused on drip style, this piece is one of my works that I didn't try to steer towards any subject or feel. I'll try it again some day.
Thanks for listening... and remember to keep seeking out art where ever you are!
